Introduced in 2019, Jeuveau is the first product of its kind to enter the cosmetic market in over a decade, challenging long-standing giants with its cutting-edge, highly purified botulinum toxin formula. Manufactured using a modern method known as Hi-Pure technology, Jeuveau offers a blend of effectiveness and affordability that makes it an attractive option for both newcomers and seasoned cosmetic treatment fans. Whether you’re looking to diminish the ever-so-telling frown lines that have taken up residence between your brows or seeking a preventative measure against the inevitable signs of aging, Jeuveau presents a compelling case.
What is Jeuveau?
Jeuveau, also known as Newtox, is a modern injectable neurotoxin used for cosmetic purposes to improve the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines on the face. It contains botulinum toxin type A, which temporarily paralyzes the muscles responsible for causing wrinkles, resulting in smoother, more youthful-looking skin.
Jeuveau is similar to other neurotoxin injectables like Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin, but it is specifically approved for the temporary improvement of moderate to severe glabellar lines (frown lines between the eyebrows) in adults. Manufactured by Evolus, Jeuveau received FDA approval in 2019 and has become a popular option for individuals seeking facial rejuvenation treatments.
What are the cosmetic uses of Jeuveau?
Jeuveau is primarily used for cosmetic purposes to address facial wrinkles and fine lines. Some of the common cosmetic uses of Jeuveau include:
- Glabellar lines: Jeuveau is FDA-approved for the temporary improvement of moderate to severe glabellar lines, also known as frown lines or "11" lines, between the eyebrows. It can help smooth out these vertical lines and create a more youthful appearance.
- Forehead lines: Jeuveau can be used to soften horizontal forehead lines that form when raising the eyebrows or making facial expressions. By targeting the muscles responsible for these lines, Jeuveau can reduce their appearance.
- Crow's feet: Jeuveau is effective in treating crow's feet, the fine lines and wrinkles that develop around the outer corners of the eyes. By relaxing the muscles around the eyes, Jeuveau can diminish the appearance of crow's feet.
- Brow lift: Jeuveau can be strategically injected to create a subtle brow lift by relaxing specific muscles that pull the eyebrows down. This technique can help open up the eyes and create a more refreshed look.

What should I expect?Botox is a neuromodulator that utilizes a natural, purified protein administered at very low doses to reduce the contractions of the muscles that cause the persistent frown lines that develop over time. While results are significant, it will not radically change your facial appearance. The muscles are simply relaxed, so you can still frown, smile, or look surprised without the wrinkles and creases. Injecting Botox into targeted facial muscles can minimize even the most stubborn of wrinkles, leaving the skin looking smoother and more youthful.
Botox is injected using small needles to minimize pain. Your doctor may numb the injection site ahead of time with ice packs or topical numbing cream. You may be asked to make facial expressions like squinting, smiling or frowning to help your doctor locate the best site for injection.
How will I feel after my treatment?Patients may experience a temporary feeling of swelling or heaviness in treatment area. Side effects are minimal and are short lived, and typically resolve on their own within a few days. Some patients may experience a mild headache or temporary bruising, swelling, redness, or bleeding may occur at injection sites. Most patients experience no side effects and are able to return to daily activities that day.
How long does Botox treatment take? While treatment time can vary, the typical Botox treatment takes around 15 to 20 minutes from start to finish.
How soon will I see results? The effects of Botox Cosmetic start to appear within a few days and continue to improve until their full affect is achieved within 7-14 days of treatment.
How long will it last?
Botox is typically priced per unit. Some areas require more units than others, and some also respond better to treatment than others. Depending on the area treated, Botox will last for 3-6 months. Typically, it is recommended to repeat treatment in 3-4 months.
Forehead (10-30 units)
The forehead is the most common Botox injection site, as it’s where many people first see the signs of aging. Horizontal wrinkles along the brow are easily treated with Botox injections.
Between Eyebrows (10-25 units)
The area between your eyebrows, also known as the glabella, or “11” lines, is also a popular treatment area. Smoothing out these vertical wrinkles corrects a tired or angry appearance for a more vibrant look.
Upper Eyebrow (2-5 units each side)
Botox injected into the upper eyebrow can mimic the effects of an eyebrow lift by relaxing the muscles that cause upper eyelids to droop.
Crow’s Feet (5-15 units each side)
Crow’s feet are the small, branching wrinkles that form at the corner of the eye when smiling. The skin in this area is much thinner than in other parts of the face, exacerbating the appearance of wrinkles.
Bunny Lines (5-10 unites each side)
Bunny lines, otherwise known as nasalis lines, are the rabbit-like wrinkles that appear on the side of your nose when you scrunch up your face, smile or laugh. These lines sometimes extend upwards to the lower eyelid.
Common side-effectsAs with any medical treatment, there are some risks associated with Wrinkle Relaxing (Botox) Injections. Some of the most common side effects include:
- Bruising
- Asymmetry
- Headache
- Discomfort at the injection site
Rare side-effectsIn rare cases, Wrinkle Relaxing (Botox) Injections can cause more serious side effects, such as double vision, difficulty speaking or swallowing and drooping eyelids (ptosis). It is also important to be aware of potential allergic reactions to Botox injections. Symptoms of an allergic reaction can include itching, rash, redness or swelling around the injection site.
If you experience any of these side effects, you should contact your aesthetic practitioner.
What is ptosis?Ptosis is a medical condition characterized by drooping of the upper eyelid. This can happen when the Botulinum Toxin (Botox) is injected too close to the levator palpebrae superioris muscle, which is responsible for lifting the eyelid. The ptosis is usually temporary and resolves within a few weeks after the injection.
This is why it is extremely important to have Wrinkle Relaxing Injections administered by a qualified and experienced healthcare professional who is familiar with the anatomy and function of the muscles in the face and eyes. The healthcare professional should also have knowledge of the recommended dosages and injection sites for the treatment of wrinkles around the eyes to minimize the risk of ptosis.
